Comic Cure’s Mr. Multiple Personality was arguably one of the best and most important shows as it marked the one-year anniversary of the organization, and the School of Communication’s PREP students were part of the celebration on Friday, Sept. 16 at Miami Theater Center in Miami Shores.
“It was a night of non-stop laughter,” according to managing director and co-founder of Comic Cure, Benjamin Leis. “Our year culminated with an incredible anniversary show and we, once again, could not have made this night possible without PREP. It was a perfect evening to celebrate our successes and springboard into the future!”
As always, PREP was right in the midst of the action, capturing every moment for social media and assisting audience members with check-in. PREP newcomers Evelyn Pang and Daniela Calderon managed Comic Cure’s Twitter and Instagram accounts, live posting throughout the evening. Sophomore Vivian Heerens, another PREP newcomer, was the hostess, checking-in guests and assisting with event set-up and management. PREP Manager Celeste Balboni returned for her third semester in the program and managed the staff, assisted Leis, and was responsible for all pre and post PREP logistics.
Each Comic Cure show benefits a local non-profit and for Mr. Multiple Personality it was Pridelines, one of South Florida’s oldest LGBTQ community and service center. PREP students were able to enjoy a night of comedy while simultaneously supporting two local organizations, Comic Cure and Pridelines.
The PREP “season” is off to a busy start with two events the weekend of Sept. 24; one helping St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the other for Special Olympics of South Florida. PREP is always eager to assist with the next Comic Cure event…so be on the lookout for details coming soon.
