  • Looking for another communication class: COS 391-Q: SPECIAL TOPICS COURSE: CO-CULTURES AND COMMUNICATION IN AMERICA with  Dr. Darlene K. Drummond

Course Description :  This class will challenge the presumption that a passport is required for intercultural experiences. We will examine communication in a variety of settings and from a variety of “American” cultural perspectives, and privilege the voices of African, Asian, Latino, Native, Jewish, and Arab Americans.  In addition, we will apply ideas from rhetoric, mass media, and interpersonal communication to better understand how culture influences the creation and sharing of meaning, and how various meanings and symbols constitute what we call cultural reality.  So, if you want to learn something about culture, ethnicity, and communication from the various points of view of ethnic scholars – this is the course for you!

  • The School of Communication will be launching a peer advising program this fall.  If you have exceptional talents, are enthusiastic, energetic, friendly, motivated, and wish to make a difference in your school as a peer advisor, we are now accepting applications.
