*         Burson-Marsteller, one of the world’s largest public relations full-service firms, will be on campus speaking to students about employment possibilities.  Please join PRSSA for a mixer with Burson-Marsteller April 1st starting at 6:30 in Studio A.  Pizza and beverages will be served.

 

- Notes -

*         The School of Communication will be launching a peer advising program this fall.  If you have exceptional talents, are enthusiastic, energetic, friendly, motivated, and wish to make a difference in your school as a peer advisor, we are now accepting applications. Peer advisors will encounter innumerable opportunities to mentor freshman and sophomore students; properly advise them in all graduation requirements; and enjoy memorable experiences through their involvement in school. As a peer advisor, you will be able to secure an early registration appointment; receive gift certificates for the fall and spring terms; have a personalized, profile section in your school’s website; … etc.  All juniors and seniors, who are in good academic standing, are eligible to apply.  Please submit your complete applications to Natieska Rivas in room 2037. Deadline is April 25th.

My name is Michelle Seelig.  I am a professor in the School of Communication, at the University of Miami .  I recently sent you a survey about the visual delivery of information through the use of photos with sound.

If you have already completed and returned this survey thank you for your time and attention.  If, however you have not completed the survey, I still would like to include your input.  To participate, please click on the link below at your earliest convenience.  It should take you approximately 20 minutes to complete.  For best results please complete this web survey using a MAC computer.

*         On April 4th from 12:00 to 5:00, there will be a forum entitled: Youth and Celebrities as Agents of Change , in which we will like to present several successful initiatives on youth development, highlight key partners such as MTV-Latin America, Microsoft, SES Foundation, the Ibero-American Youth Organization, Ashoka’s Youth Venture, Generation Engage, and the Knight Foundation among others. During this afternoon we will also launch “Yo amo América” a new IDB awareness campaign featuring celebrities from the region as spokespersons for strategic development issues.

The objective of this program of activities is to highlight the fundamental role that youth have in development as well as the current demographic window of opportunity to reduce poverty in the Latin American and Caribbean region by investing strategically in this important sector.

This event presents a unique opportunity for networking and engagement for students majoring in International Relations, Political Science, Communication, Business and Latin American or Caribbean Studies. Students should RSVP to leadandserve@miami.edu with their full name, e-mail and whether or not they would like to take charter buses provided by the institution.
