Don’t miss your chance to chat with fellow ’Cane, E! News’ Jason Kennedy . Jason, a School of Communication alumnus, will be hosting a talk open to all communication students.

 

When: Wednesday, March 26

The talk sessions will be from 2:30 p.m. – 3:20 p.m. OR 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

 

Where: Studio B, Frances L. Wolfson Building

About Jason: In 2005 he joined E! as a news correspondent, handling a variety of stories and events for E! News. Kennedy has covered news from Clinton to Hilton, and is the host of ABC’s newest reality show, “Dance Machine,” which will premiere this year. While attending UM, Kennedy received numerous awards, including the coveted Associated Press Award for Best News Feature in the state of Florida .

 

 

 

*         The SunCoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will be sponsoring a Career Day event on Saturday, March 29th in Studio C.  Breakfast will be available from 9:30-10 am and the event will run from 10am until noon .  Local professionals in the television and video fields will be available to discuss opportunities, resumes, getting your foot in the door, and to answer any questions you may have for them.

AWARDS FOR 2008-2009 ACADEMIC YEAR : Awards will range from $5,000 to $15,000.00. Individual scholarship awards will be based on quality of projects submitted.

OPEN TO:   All students in all majors in the School of Communication

HOW TO APPLY:   An application is attached .  Applicants must submit a project that includes one or more of the following subjects:  wine (including subtopics such as wine and health, etc.), food or the hospitality industry.  Such projects could include, but are not limited to, a video or short documentary, news or feature writing, a press kit, an advertising project, a graphic design project, a photography portfolio, or a scholarly or research paper.
