Graduate Scholarships

The University coordinates several programs to help students obtain financial aid from local, state, and federal sources. Priority deadline for financial aid applications is March 1.

Assistantships

A limited number of School of Communication graduate assistantships in varying amounts are available to entering and continuing students who are pursuing an M.A. or M.F.A. degree.

Occasionally, assistantships outside the School of Communication are available as well. For students to be considered for School assistantship awards, applicants must be admitted to the School of Communication with a complete application file by the application deadline. The normal work load for a partial assistantship award is 8 to 10 hours per week during the academic year. Tuition may be waived for graduate assistants from nine to twelve credit hours for a partial award per academic year.

Scholarships

A limited amount of scholarship funding is available to students in the Print Journalism or Television Broadcast Journalism programs. The scholarship amount and availability vary per academic year.

To request an assistantship form, visit or call the Graduate Studies Office of the School of Communication; see the director of Graduate Studies for additional information.
