Project Description

The 2014 PGA TOUR WCG Cadillac Championship took place at the Trump National Doral on March 3-9. The University of Miami PREP students began working with the local offices in January to promote the tournament at events and gatherings throughout South Florida.

During the week of the Cadillac Championship, PREP students had the opportunity to garner real-life public relations experience by working for the tour officials. In order to prepare for the event, students attended a training session at the Trump National Golf course, where they received an on-site tour and were able to ask questions about the event.

UM PREP students had the opportunity to work at the media center and at the social media zones. The media center position allowed students the chance to work with the media and gave them the opportunity to see how a media center operates. Students are responsible for issuing media credentials, the dissemination of documents and of assisting the media with interviews and other requests. PREP students were also given the opportunity to assist with press conferences, which included: Donald Trump, Tiger Woods, Bubba Watson and other PGA TOUR players.

PREP Students also promoted the social media contests on-site during the tournament, gathering posts, talking to fans, taking pictures and more all for use by the PGA Tour and Cadillac Championship social media platforms.
