Mitchell E. Shapiro

Director of Honors Programs, Electronic Media, Broadcast Journalism, and Media Management

Dr. Shapiro holds a Ph.D. from Florida State University. In addition to being a full time professor, he serves as Director of the School’s Honors Program. He is the author of several books on television and radio programming, including Television Network Prime Time Programming, 1948-1988, Television Network Daytime and Late-Night Programming, 1959-1989, Television Network Weekend Programming, 1959-1990, and the recently published Radio Network Prime Time Programming, 1926-1967. He is also a contributing author to the Encyclopedia of Television and to the Encyclopedia of Radio. He has written scholarly articles and has presented numerous papers at scholarly meetings. He has also published in the areas of politics and the media, media effects, audience analysis, and broadcast history.

Dr. Shapiro serves as a consultant to the broadcasting industry and has appeared numerous times on local and national television and radio to discuss and comment on various happenings in the broadcast media.
