By Peri Diamond, PR Student

This summer I had the opportunity to intern at The Estee Lauder Companies with the MAC Cosmetics Travel Retail Americas Division as the Public Relations and Special Events Intern.

Working in the travel retail industry has allowed me to explore more about unique retailing opportunities and public relations in niche markets. In addition to being able to expand on the knowledge I have gained from my classes at the University of Miami, I have also been able to learn more about global communications in a business and corporate setting.

Over the course of my internship, I have assisted in sending press releases, as well as press kits and press images to media editors. In addition to working on presentations that will be sent to executives in the New York office, I’ve also had the opportunity to sit in on important team meetings while developing an insider’s view into the industry.

One of my favorite experiences this summer was planning the Autumn/Winter 2014 Trend Presentation for the Caribbean and South America media to attend. Being an intern for The Estee Lauder Companies has been a wonderful, hands-on experience and I cannot have imagined anything better – lipstick and all!
